A Quiet Stability
Bhutan, 2025
At the borders of the Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary, rural communities live within a system of strict conservation policies designed to protect one of the country’s richest ecosystems. Here, farmland meets protected forest, and daily life unfolds under careful regulation and environmental monitoring. Elusive tigers inhabit the most remote areas, tracked through camera traps and field patrols, while elephants periodically move beyond forest boundaries, damaging crops and threatening livelihoods. Rangers patrol to contain conflict and maintain a delicate separation between human settlements and wildlife. In this landscape, stability is not natural but maintained through constant vigilance. The balance between community survival and biodiversity protection depends on coordination, enforcement, and shared responsibility.
